Public Section:

Final Investment Champion The contestant with the highest total investment return on the portfolio at the end of the Game will be awarded a cash prize of HK$20,000.
First Runner-up The contestant with the second highest total investment return on the portfolio at the end of the Game will be awarded a cash prize of HK$10,000.
ETF Champion The contestant with the highest total ETF investment return on the portfolio at the end of the Game will be awarded an Apple iPhone 6 Plus 16GB smartphone (space grey, silver or gold)
Weekly Winners
(one winner each week)
Every week, the contestant with the highest investment return on the portfolio at the end of that week and who has not previously been a Weekly Winner will be awarded an Apple iPhone 6 16GB smartphone (space grey, silver or gold). There will be four Weekly Winners in total.

Tertiary Student Section:

Champion sponsored by Mirae Asset Global Investments (Hong Kong) Limited The Champion will be awarded 2 round trip economy class air tickets from Hong Kong to Seoul.
First Runner-up sponsored by Value ETF The First Runner-up will be awarded an Apple iPhone 6 16GB smartphone (space grey, silver or gold).
Second Runner-up sponsored by Hang Seng Investment Management Limited The Second Runner-up will be awarded a HK$5,000 cash prize.
Third Runner-up sponsored by Tracker Fund of Hong Kong The Third Runner-up will be awarded an Apple Store Gift Card with a value of HK$1,000.
Special Awards:  
Best Presentation Award sponsored by China Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited The winner of Best Presentation Award will be awarded an internship at China Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited.
Best Portfolio Award sponsored by China Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited The winner of Best Portfolio Award will be awarded an internship at China Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited.

Remarks: If there is more than one contestant with the same investment return in their portfolios, the contestant who registered earlier will be ranked ahead of the other contestant.

Public and Tertiary Student Sections:

Lucky Draw Award (1 award) All contestants who have completed at least one transaction in the Game will be automatically entered into the Lucky Draw. The winner of the Lucky Draw will be awarded an Apple iPhone 6 Plus 16GB smartphone (gold). The winner will be announced at etnet.com.hk and HKET Newspaper on 24th November, 2014.

Eligibility

  1. Contestants of the Public Section must be aged 18 or above.
  2. Contestants of the Tertiary Student Section must be studying full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, regardless of discipline and year.
  3. Contestants can only enter the Game on an individual basis.
  4. Employees of ET Net Limited, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and The London Metal Exchange and their immediate family members who participate in the Game will not be eligible to receive any of the awards and prizes.

 


Game Rules

Public Section

The Game is conducted in 4 phases on a weekly basis from 20 October to 14 November 2014.

Contestants are required to simulate investment in designated Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and stocks. ETFs refer to the ETFs listed and traded on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK) on 17 October 2014. Stocks refer to constituents of Hang Seng Index and Hang Seng China Enterprises Index. Please refer to “ETFs and Stocks List” for details.

Contestants are required to invest in one or more ETF or stock in each product type and allocate 100% of their portfolios on the basis set out in the table below.

Contestants’ portfolios will be reset before each week’s first trading day. Contestants need to re-build their portfolio every week.

Virtual trading in the Game may be conducted in the morning and afternoon trading sessions (9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) on trading days. There will be no auction sessions. If the securities market is closed due to typhoons or for any other reason, the trading hours of the Game will follow the trading arrangements announced by The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

Contestants must input the percentage of purchased ETFs or stocks in the portfolio (a minimum of 10% or multiples thereof). The ETFs or stocks purchased cannot be sold within the same day.

If, as at Monday of any week of the Game, a stock is subject to an announced share consolidation or share split that has not yet taken effect, that stock will not be available for trading during that week of the Game.

Every buy / sell quote is provided in real-time quoting and is valid for 5 seconds only. If the transaction is not made within the time limit, re-quoting is required.

Contestants can make a maximum of 20 transactions (buy / sell) each day of ETFs or stocks that have been traded on SEHK that day. All transactions of ETFs and stocks are made in nominal price ( “Nominal Price” represents the Traded Price in AMS).

Calculation of investment return:

  1. All ETFs and stocks investment return (+/- percentage) made by contestants will be recorded and accumulated.
  2. If contestants hold the ETFs or stocks in the portfolio until the end of the week, the system will calculate the investment return (+/- percentage) according to its purchase price and closing price of the last trading day of the week.
  3. If contestants have sold the ETFs or stocks before the end of the week, the system will calculate the investment return (+/- percentage) according to its purchase price and selling price made by contestants.
  4. If the ETFs or stocks purchased by contestants distribute dividends or issue bonus shares, the system will not adjust the purchase price of the ETFs or stocks.
  5. At the end of the Game, the system will aggregate the investment return for each of the four weeks in the Game period to determine the total investment return.
  6. Any expenses arising from brokerage commissions, stamp duty rates, trading fee, transaction levy and any income arising from dividends will not be taken into account in calculating the return.

Tertiary Student Section (English Only)

The Game will be divided into 2 rounds:

First Round: Online Investment Simulation Game

  1. Duration: 20 October – 14 November 2014
  2. Contestants are required to invest in designated Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and stocks.
  3. The top 6 contestants with the highest total investment returns at the end of the First Round will be shortlisted to enter the Final Round.
  4. Please refer the Game Rules of the Public Section for the Game Rules of the First Round.

Final Round: Oral Presentation

  1. Date: 6 December 2014
  2. Venue: The Exchange Auditorium, The Exchange Exhibition Hall, 1/F., One and Two Exchange Square, Central, Hong Kong
  3. Finalists will give an oral presentation to a panel of judges to explain:
    1. use of ETFs as investment instrument; and
    2. analyses and strategies for their portfolio at the First Round.
  4. Each finalist will have 25 minutes, including 15 minutes for individual presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A session.
  5. The Final Round is conducted in English.
